I Love Hearing from Readers!

I love getting notes from people who are reading my books. Lately I've been hearing from those reading Forty Days of Lint. We all have such busy lives, so everyone seems to be in different places throughout the book. It's fun to see how no matter where they're reading, God gives them just what they need that day.

Today, a reader said:
"I am relating to Day 14: True Friends, True Healing. So thankful for the believing friends that God has given me. I am blessed. Thank you for your thoughtful writings."

Day 14 is all about friendship and it hit home for me too. This part especially:

"I thank God for blessing me with friends who carry me to Jesus when I’m too paralyzed to get there myself. I might be tempted to think I only need relief from the painful consequences of my sinful habits or attitudes, when what I really need is heart-cleansing.

"They prayerfully place me before Jesus and let His Holy Spirit begin healing. As a true friend, I want to do the same for them. Repentance may not look fancy from the outside, but that’s where healing begins, front and center with Jesus."

I was on Day 34 today: Hindering Bunnies. It's a constant battle to keep those dust bunnies cleared away!

"I have my own list of things that hinder my walk with Christ, and what distracts me from the course He has determined. I must constantly kick free from false guilt, insecurity, perfectionism, inhibitions, and a well-meaning but enabling spirit. I get depleted, discouraged, and sidetracked when I do things for others they should be doing for themselves.

"These bunnies sometimes have the appearance of holiness, just like dust bunnies can mimic soft and cuddly stuffed bunnies. In reality, however, they are man-made efforts to obtain righteousness, which Isaiah describes as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). Hindering bunnies prevent us from experiencing God’s power unless we’re willing to keep our hearts clear of them."

I invite you to get a copy of Forty Days of Lint and use it to prepare your heart for Easter. If you're already reading, I would love to hear what God is saying to you through it.

And don't worry if you can't finish the book before Easter. The readings are applicable any time of year. After all, lint is not seasonal...in our homes or in our hearts. A little house cleaning is always in order.
